HLTAID009
Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
A person’s chances of surviving a cardiac arrest go down 10% for each minute that CPR is not performed. Getting hands-on chests allows blood to flow around the body again and buys our patient some time while a defibrillator is organised. The AED is a life-saving piece of equipment that can shock a heart back into a normal rhythm to get it pumping again. Students will learn the fundamentals of CPR and also have the opportunity to put their knowledge into practice during simulations throughout the session.

We’ll teach you the essentials of providing first aid to a child in need, covering topics such as choking, asthma, anaphylaxis, fractures and CPR to name a few. You’ll also learn how to identify a deteriorating child using the all-important paediatric assessment triangle, a tool frequently used by emergency health care professionals.
